Dear Parents & Guardians,

Our first week together was a great success you should be very proud of your child, they were great listeners!

* Tuesday Will be day 5a, Book Exchange
*Please remember to send in a snack for your child.

As this week approaches we will be starting our first story “Sam, Come Back.” Throughout the year your child will be learning many different types of strategies in reading so that they will have a better understanding.  This week’s skills are focus on Characters and Setting.

In phonics we will be reviewing the short /a/ sound and the consonant pattern /ck/.  We will also be discussing new vocabulary words, and reviewing High Frequency Words that they have learned in Kindergarten.

Each story will come with its own set of spelling words; for this week I will give the list of words to learn, have the students spell them, and then check for accuracy, I will not be recording any grades for this week.  I want to see how the students learn and apply the rules when it comes to spelling. Whether they use the words in their journals or just writing it in a sentence. This year, I am looking forward to students learning the words and knowing them, not just for an assessment.

In Math Topic 1, the children will gain a better understanding when it comes to addition.  They will be using manipulatives of all sorts, along with learning new vocabulary words.

*There will not be any homework assign this week, unless your child did not finish their work during class time.
Have a Wonderful Week!

Thank you
